Through work and their health initiative partnership with Virgin Pulse, I have access to the app Foodsmart by Zipango. While I've only utilized this feature for a few weeks, I must say I really enjoy it. I can browse all sorts of recipes, add the ingredients to a shopping list, and then check off the list while I shop. I need to fit my recipes to the list of meats I have on had, so it lets me also plan on which meats to pull out. The other thing that is awesome is these recipes, for the most part, are quick. Many times the longest prep work is chopping up the vegetables. If I did that before hand, the meals would be even quicker. There was a lamb & chickpea chili recipe that takes about 30 minutes to prepare. Takes ground lamb, which I have, and ground turkey, which I don't have, a few bell peppers, a can of chick peas, garlic, onion, and tomato. It was a very good meal. I was nervous, with the ground lamb and ground turkey. Lamb is a strong flavor, and I don't have a lot of ground turkey experience. The recipe turned out amazing and we made it twice! One feature that I think would be a great addition, planning calendar. If I could plan on the days that the meals would be prepared, along with a quick link to the recipe and ingredients would be handy. I found myself going to my favorite list to find the recipe, and then pulling out the ingredients. A prep feature, like prep these items over the weekend to make dinner creation over the week faster, would be another great idea.

This is a great article on the importance of our senses with regards to food. I like how the writer brought in the COVID experience of loosing your sense of smell. It definitely took the joy out of drinking a cup of coffee. I purposefully decided to live on a farm and be a farmer, so I forget what life is like for so many others. I get reminders when we go to our small group, because almost everything they provide is processed, packaged, and cooked somewhere else.

My wife isn't a big fan of pork chops, but I found this recipe online. I think I'm going to try it over the next week or so to see if I can get her to eat pork chops.

I purchased a whole lamb from the farm and was thinking of diving into it tonight for the first time. Any body have some great lamb recipes? I have a variety of cuts to choose from.
